How to get that Dr. Dre West Cost Whistle sound

Dr. Dres’ Chronic album is a staple in hip hop music. Anyone who’s anyone in hip hop knows that album back to front. Among all the classics on that album, there was one sound in particular that defines that genre and era of music.

The sound we’re referring to has been called many things but we think the best way to describe it is the Dr. Dre Westcoast G-funk synth whistle sound.

  1. Hello and thank you for your time and great tutorials! Where do i put the channel strip preset in Logic? I know where to put the ES2 preset but in what folder does the Channel strip preset go?

    1. To load Channel Strip Settings go to: Computer > Macintosh HD or Hard Drive Name > Users > Account name > Music > Audio Music Apps > Channel Strip Settings > Instrument
